A message from the quilt creators:
Every quilt has a story…
After attending an Irish Festival in Jessenland, my daughter suggested that we should make a quilt to be sold as a fundraiser for the church. We choose the pattern which is called “Double Irish Chain”, and the colors represent the colors of Ireland’s flag.
My family has a strong connection to St Thomas Church, Jessenland. My great-great-grandfather, Thomas Madden, helped build the existing church in 1870. Thomas died in April, 1871 and is believed to be the first funeral from the existing building. My parents were married at this church in 1946. I have several relatives buried in the church cemetery.
I hope whoever wins the quilt will enjoy knowing the story.
